Welcome to the
Roundabout Online the website of the
Vancouver Coast Branch
of the
Old English Car Club
of British Columbia
Join English car enthusiasts
in the Vancouver area
and throughout British Columbia in OECC.
Our mission is
the
preservation, restoration, and enjoyment of
English vehicles of all ages.
OUR CLUB:
OECC is a club of
old English
car enthusiasts throughout British Columbia. Our mission is the
preservation, restoration, and enjoyment of English vehicles of all ages.
We have a wide variety of
marques of English cars, trucks, and motorcycles and enjoy finding others
who own these vehicles and share our enthusiasm.
Our Club
includes branches in Comox, Kamloops, Nanaimo, Prince George, Vancouver, and
Victoria.
Officially the Old English Car Club and Registry of British Columbia, we are
registered with the Province of British Columbia as a non-profit society.
Most branches
have a premier annual event that attracts a significant number of old
English cars. Wherever you travel in British Columbia you will find OECC
members.
Guests are always welcome
at the meetings and events of any of our branches. Our Vancouver Coast
Branch of OECC is an active and enthusiastic group and we invite you to
check us out. See our
Welcome to OECC brochure!
OUR REGALIA:
OECC is developing a nice selection
of shirts and hats with an embroidered OECC logo. Please check out our
OECC REGALIA CATALOG. You can
order from the Branch Regalia Officer (the VCB Vice-Chairman) or Ian Cox,
the Club Regalia Officer.
OUR CARS:
Some of our Vancouver Coast Branch
members own cars that are old (the oldest
is a 1911 Rolls-Royce) and some own cars that are new (Aston Martin, Jaguar and Mini), but
most own cars from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. As you might guess, members are always
buying and selling cars and we have an Autojumble (classifieds) on our website to
facilitate buying and selling English cars and parts. Members of our branch own quite a variety
of English marques. In 2006 the list included:
OUR MEETINGS:
Our meetings give you an opportunity
to mix and mingle with other English car enthusiasts, many of whom drive
their English cars to the meetings. We meet the
first Tuesday of every
month at various locations around the Vancouver metropolitan area to celebrate the unique experience of enjoying English automobiles.
Venues include a variety of experiences, ranging from professional
auto-related shops and private car collections to meetings that are
primarily social. Some meeting programs have a focus on restoration and maintenance.
OUR NEWSLETTERS:
We have two newsletters, one
published by our Vancouver Coast Branch and one published by OECC for all
branches.
Our Vancouver Coast Branchpublishes
THE
ROUNDABOUT, a bimonthly newsletter that features articles on
restoration projects (one member has a terrific series of articles on his
restoration of a Sunbeam Imp), articles dealing with English car history
(several members write excellent articles on vintage English cars and
trucks as well as the personalities involved), and some articles deal with
past and future events. Occasionally there is a tech article on some aspect
of repair or maintenance. Members receive the
current issue by email (in colour) or by postal mail (in black and white). Click on the Roundabout logo for our Roundabout Archives
(also available on the Publications menu).
The OECC
publishes an outstanding newsletter, THE
SPANNERwith articles on restoration projects, the cars of members,
and English car history in British Columbia. Many of the issues have
beautiful colour photos of unique English cars. We encourage
you to download and enjoy it. The files are quite large, so please be
patient if you don't have a high speed ISP. On the OECC Newsletters page you will find
links to the newsletters of other OECC branches. A Spanner Archives
Index is available online!
BENEFITS OF JOINING OECC:
There are lots of benefits of joining OECC:
Socialization:
Enjoy getting together with other English car enthusiasts to participate in meetings,
runs, rallies, drives, lunches, social events and
car shows and have an opportunity to participate in planning and
organizing events. Many
members participate in organized shows, including the Vancouver All British Field Meet
at VanDusen Botanical Gardens in May. Our branch has an ongoing calendar
of events and members often participate in events sponsored by other
British car clubs in the area. All of this helps increase your enjoyment
of our hobby.
Membership Roster:
Members receive a Membership Roster of all branches to facilitate
networking with those who own similar vehicles. Take the roster with you
when touring as a valuable resource.
Newsletters:
Several branches have monthly or bimonthly newsletters and the Club
publishes the Spanner three times/year. Newsletters report on past and
upcoming events, member vehicle restorations, and may have technical
articles. All newsletters are available on our website.
Technical Advice:
If you have a problem, ask another member. Chances are others have had the
same problem. Members who own the
same marque and/or share the same challenges are good sources of technical
advice. Many members are involved in
restoration and are glad to share their experiences.
Discounts: Receive significant discounts on auto parts and
other merchandise at NAPA Auto Parts with your membership card.
Insurance:
All branches are members of the Confederation of Autosport Car Clubs and are
covered by ASDN Canada FIA insurance for Club-related events.
Appraisals:
Informal appraisals of value may be available.
