	May 4, 2010 Barney Vinegar Car Collection 5960 No. 6 Road Richmond We will tour Barney's collection of about 40 special interest cars and hear many interesting stories. It has been eight years since we were there, so don't miss this special treat. April 6, 2010 Sure Blast, Unit 124 1585 Broadway Port Coquitlam The program will be on do-it-yourself media blasting. March 2, 2010 Old Spaghetti Factory Restaurant, 50 Eighth Street, New Westminster This was our AGM (annual general meeting). We elected offices for the coming year and had a lot of time to just chat about cars and other things. February 2, 2010 Sharkey's Pub and Grill Ladner This was a purely social meeting, with neither program nor business meeting. It appeared to be enjoyed by all. January 5, 2010 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby We enjoyed a special slide show by Colin Crabbe of his experience at the Reynolds Museum south of Edmonton where he attended their Restoration Program.

December 1, 2009 - 6:00 PM Our annual Christmas Dinner and Awards Night was at the Town and Country Inn in Delta. The turnout was quite good. November 3, 2009 - 7:00 PM BCAA Headquarters 4567 Canada Way Burnaby We will meet in their conference room and hear a presentation on their programs. October 6, 2009 - 7:00 PM Billy Bishop Hall & Pub Royal Canadian Legion, Spitfire Room 1407 LaBurnium, Vancouver MAP of Area - Fee parking is available at the Kitsilano Beach parking lot at the corner of Arbutus and Cornwall. Bring a few Loonies. Free parking may be available in front of the Pub if you come early. September 1, 2009 - 7:00 PM Alistair Black Special Services, Inc. #1 5438 176th Street, Surrey Alistair and Lionel had really spiffed up the shop in advance of our meeting and it was really a show piece, complete with two beautiful MGBs (the red one on the lift was, well, WOW), Alistair's 1936 Morgan 4/4 (probably the oldest Morgan 4-wheeler in North America), two Alfas, a Model T, and two of Lionel's Citroen 2CVs, The turnout, numbering 42 or so, was our largest in a long time. July 7, 2009 - 7:00 PM Canadian Museum of Flight Hangar 3, Langley Regional Airport #200 - 5333 216th Street, Langley Map of Area - A glitch in planning (ours, not the museum's) meant that the museum wasn't open and our meeting had to adjourn to a nearby pub. We would have found a comprehensive collection of aircraft and artifacts illustrating this region’s long involvement with aviation. These range from replicas of WW1 aircraft, to a Waco biplane from 1930, a Douglas DC-3 transport from 1940 and a 1942 Hampden bomber. The collection moves into the jet age with a Vampire fighter, the all-Canadian designed and built CF-100, and the needle-nosed Lockheed Starfighter.	June 2, 2009 - 7:00 PM Tucker's Tin Farm 18944 74th Ave., Surrey Map of Area - An outstanding collection of cars, 1915 on up, with an amazing amount of memorabilia housed in an impressive four bay, three story structure. We really appreciate the opportunity to tour this collection! He was credited with 72 victories, making him the top ace of the British Empire in World War I. The facility has museum status and is very interesting. This is a social meeting with a meeting agenda that includes discussion of some of the innovations approved by the VCB Executive at their meeting on 4/21. We will also discuss and vote on locations for our annual Christmas dinner. April 7, 2009 Coquitlam Automotive 520 Como Lake Ave, Coquitlam We had a great presentation on engine rebuilding. March 3, 2009 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby This was our annual business meeting. We elected offices for the coming year. Returning to a tradition, we had sandwiches, a fruit platter, and 80 Tim Bits to reward those who turned up. February 3, 2009 Old Spaghetti Factory Restaurant 50 Eighth Street , New Westminster This turned out to be a purely social meeting, but most were around until almost 9:00 so it must have been a success. January 6, 2009 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby We enjoyed a very special video of 1930s Austin factory promotional footage. The facility's new video projection system worked flawlessly and made viewing a pleasure!

December 2, 2008 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster Our annual Christmas dinner and awards event. November 4, 2008 Teamster's Freight Transportation Museum and Archives 1580-A Kingsway, Coquitlam Early trucking in British Columbia was like nowhere else in Canada. Drivers had to deal with the heaviest payloads, treacherous mountain passes and the rawest weather conditions. That’s why every vehicle enthusiast should visit the Teamsters Freight Transportation Museum in Coquitlam. Their collection of trucks dates from 1914 to 1946. See the article about the museum in the September 2003 issue of Truck News. October 7, 2008 Nu-brite Industries #3 - 9535 190th St Surrey We had an absolutely outstanding presentation on wheel repair and refinishing, going sequentially through every step of the process. If you missed this one, you missed a great one! July 8, 2008 (date changed due to Canada Day on 7/1) Buck and Ear Bar & Grill 12111 3rd Ave Richmond (Steveston) Our July meeting was at the Buck and Ear Bar and Grill, located in the Steveston Hotel in Steveston. About 20 members came at 6:00 for a bite to eat before the meeting.	June 3, 2008 Roma Hall 940 Ewen Avenue New Westminster This was a social evening and many collector car magazines changed hands during the magazine exchange. May 6, 2008 Richmond Frame & Alignment 7960 River Road, Richmond We had a presentation on straightening frames and front end alignment. This was a very impressive shop. The owner likes challenging projects and had an excellent presentation. April 1, 2008 B & N Hot Rod 2591 Kingsway Ave Port Coquitlam Nine of us had fish 'n chips at C Lovers in Coquitlam then headed toward the meeting. Bill and Neil at B & N gave us a tour of their shop and talked about some of the projects they were working on. It was most interesting. March 4, 2008 Roma Hall 940 Ewen Avenue New Westminster This was our Annual General Meeting and election of officers. We had an efficient business meeting and there was a lot of opportunity for socialization. February 5, 2008 Paul's Radiator 1985 Ltd. 105-11031 Bridgeport Road (near Shell Road) Richmond Gary Closter gave a tour of his radiator shop and an absolutely outstanding presentation on radiators, including characteristics, design, and maintenance. Those who attended now know a lot more about radiators! January 8, 2008 (our meeting was changed from January 1 due to the holiday) Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster We watched a very special video courtesy of Steve Diggins with some vintage Austin footage from the 1930s. It was incredible. The technology almost sabotaged us, but Pat Jones' resourcefulness saved the day. There are more videos on the DVD that we will watch at a later date. You won't want to miss these!
2007 MEETINGS
November 27, 2007 (our December dinner date was changed due to a conflict at Sullivan Hall) Sullivan Hall 6302 152nd Ave. Surrey This was our Annual Christmas Holiday Dinner. Our happy hour was at 6:30 with the great dinner at 7:00. Everything was furnished for only $8 per person! What a deal - great food and an evening of socialization to celebrate the holidays! November 6, 2007, 7:00 PM BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse (Rainbow Station) Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave. Burnaby Guest Speaker: Nigel Mathews was our guest speaker and talked about the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours and outstanding cars he has driven recently. Nigel's presentation was outstanding. October 2, 2007, 7:00 PM Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society, SE corner of 64 Ave and 152 St, Surrey. Their mission is "Bringing heritage interurban passenger rail back to Surrey and the Fraser Valley." We saw a heritage interurban car undergoing restoration. September 4, 2007 Canadian Museum of Flight Hangar # 3 - 5333 216th Street, Langley Our September meeting was at the Canadian Museum of Flight in Langley. Our club was invited to tour this outstanding museum and hold our meeting there. This was an opportunity to see this collection of historic aircraft at no charge, and we enjoyed it a great deal. August 7, 2007 Stewart Historic Farm 13723 Crescent Road, Surrey This meeting is one of our favourites! July 3, 2007 Intermeccanica International, 150 E 1st Ave., Vancouver Intermeccanica International makes replicas of 1959 Porsche Roadsters and Speedsters. The tour took us all the way from frame building and body finishing to the finished cars which are beautiful. June 5, 2007 Roma Hall Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster Ohan Korlikian, give a talk and show a DVD on the highlights of his trip to Newfoundland last summer in a 1967 Sunbeam Alpine where Ohan entered the Targa Newfoundland in his Alpine. Ohan raised an incredible $11,500 for the Make A Wish Foundation! May 1, 2007 The Johnson Group, Terry Johnson, owner 1621 Langan Ave. Port Coquitlam We had a tour of this outstanding car collection, including everything from Messerschmitt and Crosley to classics of the teens, twenties, and thirties. April 3, 2007 Ron Rosevear's car collection, 23085 70a Avenue, Langley. This was an outstanding personal collection of cars, and the hospitality was absolutely first class! March 6, 2007 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster Annual General Meeting & Election of Officers No host bar. February 6, 2007 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby Nigel Matthews presented a slide show on Jay Leno's car collection. It was a fantastic presentation with a lot of personal insight and comment. January 2, 2007 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Ave, New Westminster We had a social evening to start the new year, enjoying the evening with a lot of English car enthusiasts.

November 7, 2006 - Meeting - 7:00 PM OK Tire Store 5831 Minoru Blvd Richmond Steve, the owner and an English car enthusiast, talked about tires for English cars. October 3, 2006 - Meeting - 7:00 PM Roma Hall 940 Ewen Avenue New Westminster We had a video of the first Ladner-Bellingham All British Run, one on the 1996 London-Brighton Vintage Car Run, and a thoroughly enjoyable social evening. September 5, 2006 - Meeting - 7:00 PM SPARC (Society for Preservation of Antique Radio in Canada) Coquitlam We heard about the fascinating hobby of restoring vintage radios and phonographs, as well as the SPARC broadcasting operation. See www3.telus.net/radiomuseum for more information! August 1, 2006 - Meeting - 7:00 PM Stewart Historic Farm 13723 Crescent Road, Surrey This meeting is one of our favourites! We enjoyed picnic in the beautiful setting, looking out over the water, then had a very brief business meeting before taking a scenic tour of Crescent Beach and White Rock in our English cars. What a delightful evening! July 4, 2006 MCL Motor Cars 1730 Burrard Street Vancouver We enjoyed looking at and hearing about all of the new British cars at MCL.	June 6, 2006 Coast Import Auto Supply 11880 Mitchell Road (Mitchell Island) Richmond We had a tour of Coast Import, an import auto recycler who has been in business long enough that at one time they had a lot of British iron. They still have some. One member found a treasure for his Sunbeam Imp. May 2, 2006 - Meeting Seabird Bent Glass 104 - 1875 Broadway Street, Port Coquitlam Seabird Bent Glass makes custom windshields and we learned about the process. One of our members had an otherwise unobtainable windshield made for an Austin Atlantic at Seabird. It was a great program and our host was most impressive. April 4, 2006 Ratsoy's Vintage & Collector Car Collection 12391 Gilbert Road, Richmond Over 70 restored vehicles to view. $5 per person fee to view this private collection (proceeds go to charity). We were there several years ago and this is an incredible collection (which is why we are going back). March 7, 2006 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster Annual General Meeting & Election of Officers No host bar. February 7, 2006 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster Larry Olson of Action Plating was our guest speaker. He gave an exceptionally informative program on chrome plating. His presentation included preparation for plating, the steps involved in a good job, and how to take care of the plated parts of your car. If you weren't there, you missed a really good program! January 3, 2006 PanelCraft, 6084 196 Street, Langley Steve Sillett of PanelCraft in Langley had an excellent presentation on automobile restorations that was very informative. Steve has a very nice website - check it out!
2005 MEETINGS
December 6, 2005 Hong Kong Chinese Inn Restaurant 5561 Ladner Trunk Rd, Ladner This was our annual Christmas dinner and awards night. For $12 (including tax and tip) we had a virtual feast of a large selection of Chinese food items. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing the evening with other English car enthusiasts. November 2, 2005 Dynasty Electric Car Corp., 591 Chester Rd, Delta Nick Banks, Sales Manager, gave us a excellent tour of the Dynasty manufacturing facility and a presentation on electric cars. Several members got to drive one. October 4, 2005 KMS Tools, 110 Woolridge St, Coquitlam (the restoration parts store is behind the tool store) An exciting opportunity to see their new restoration business with lots of vintage auto parts (primarily domestic). September 6, 2005 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Ave, New Westminster Gossip about cars, watch videos, and swap car magazines (bring surplus car magazines to swap!) August 2, 2005 Historic Stewart Farm, 13723 Crescent Road, Surrey Enjoy summer in an historic farm setting. Come early and bring a picnic! July 5, 2005 Shadbolt Cams, Ltd., 1713 W 5th Ave., Vancouver We had an excellent program on automotive cams, including the theory of cam design.	June 7, 2005 MCL Motor Cars, 1730 Burrard, Vancouver We saw some exciting new exotics. May 3, 2005 We toured a private car collection in Surrey. It was a really nice collection of American cars, with quite a few convertibles. The "barn" (as the host called it) was a professional level museum. April 5, 2005 Redi-Strip Metal Cleaning Canada, Ltd., 7691 Vintage Way, Delta We had a tour of the Redi-Strip facilities and saw the various dip processes they have for removing paint, rust, and grime from car bodies. There were several cars in process at the time. They also do abrasive blasting. It was a very informative meeting. March 1, 2005 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Avenue, New Westminster Annual General Meeting & Elections February 1, 2005 Coquitlam Automotive, 520 Como Lake Ave, Coquitlam The last time we were there they had an excellent presentation on engine rebuilding. January 4, 2005 Special Services, Inc., #1 5438 176th Street, Surrey Alistair Black presented a program on his specialty vehicle restoration business. One of the most popular cars was the Citroen!

If you missed this meeting, you shouldn't have! October 5, 2004 Heritage Train Restoration, 6857 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby We saw the restoration of the Heritage Train in process - a big project! September 7, 2004 Granville Island Museums, 1502 Duranleau Street, Vancouver This location houses three museums: Model Trains, Model Boats, and Sport Fishing. Admission is $5.00 and admits you to all three museums. To get there, enter Granville Island via Anderson Street (directly below the Granville Street Bridge). The Museums are in the first building on the left. Parking is available at various locations on the island. July 6, 2004 Britannia Heritage Shipyard National Historic Site 5180 Westwater Drive, Richmond We had an incredible tour of their restoration facilities for wooden ships, and a tour of the sailing university ship.	June 1, 2004 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park, 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby We had a video of the Morgan factory in England (The Making of a Morgan) showing the complete process of building a Morgan. March 2, 2004 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park, 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby This was our annual business meeting. February 3, 2004 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park, 120 N Willingdon Ave., Burnaby Model and restored parts night - Seventeen members brought their favourite models and restored parts for the enjoyment of almost 40 attending. Models ranged from cars to ships, steam tractors, cannons and airplanes. Restored items included a bicycle and a wing (fender). January 6, 2004 Meeting cancelled due to road conditions.
2003 MEETINGS
December 2, 2003 Roma Hall, 940 Ewen Ave., New Westminster Annual Christmas Dinner and Awards Night November 4, 2003 Trev Deeley Motorcycle Collection, 13500 Verdun Place, Richmond The Deeley Classic and Antique Museum is a special collection to see and experience. The Deeley collection is a unique story that began in 1914 with the establishment of Fred Deeley Ltd. Members of OECC enjoyed this outstanding motorcycle collection! October 7, 2003 RX Autoworks, 270 1st Street East, North Vancouver Ian Davey made an interesting presentation about the cars in their shop. RX AutoWorks is a quality car restoration business with a reputation for concours quality restorations. In the past three years RX has won several class awards at the Pebble Beach Concours. September 2, 2003 Langley U-Blast, 105-20693 Langley Bypass, Langley John Fox and George Bird of Langley U-Blast hosted our meeting. They are a new business with seven large mediablast cabinets that can be rented by the ¼ hour ($18.75) or hour ($50), to do your own blasting. You can do glass bead blasting, walnut shell blasting, sand blasting, or any other type of media you desire. Their cabinets are big enough to handle most car parts such a fenders, bumpers, trunk lids, etc., so they are excellent for enthusiasts. They are very happy to help you, or work with you on any difficult projects, and were excellent hosts for the meeting. June 3, 2003 Max's Auto Frame, Ltd., 5068 Imperial St., Burnaby Max gave us a very informative talk on frames and alinement. May 6, 2003 Rainbow Powder Coating & B&W Metal Cleaner, 935 Sherwood Ave., Coquitlam We had a very informative introduction to all types of media blasting at B&W and an equally informative introduction and demonstration of power coating at Rainbow. October 1, 2002 Vancouver Trolley Company 875 Terminal Avenue Vancouver We saw fascinating vintage trolleys and actually had our meeting in one of them. There was an antique Austin in the back of the shop. September 3, 2002 OK Tire Store 5831 Minoru Blvd Richmond Steve, the owner and English car enthusiast, talked about tires for English cars. August 6, 2002 Heritage Upholstery & Trim 1112 East 3rd Street North Vancouver Heritage Upholstery & Trim is a large English-based company that has been manufacturing original specification interior products for British sports cars since 1976. July 2, 2002 Barnet Marine Park Burnaby We had a club picnic meeting in this beautiful setting. Everyone brought their own picnic and enjoyed chatting about English cars and their projects as they ate. There was a short business meeting afterward.	June 4, 2002 Valley Carcolor, Inc. #13 - 19257 Enterprise Way Surrey Also on the program: PanelCraft 6084 196 Street Langley Cal and Ray of Valley Carcolor had a program on car paint and body work supplies. Steve Sillett of PanelCraft in Langley gave an informative presentation on automobile restorations. Steve has a very nice website. April 2, 2002 Canadian Auto Restorations 3093 194th St. Surrey We toured a professional auto restoration shop where we saw many interesting cars in the process of restoration, including a Jowett Jupiter and Triumph TR3A. March 5, 2002 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave. Burnaby This was our annual business meeting with the election of officers, etc. for the coming year. February 5, 2002 Light Parts Collection 1415 King Albert Ave. Coquitlam We saw a fascinating collection of antique automobile lighting and an interesting private auto restoration shop. January 1, 2002 This meeting was cancelled due to the holiday.

December 4, 2001 Yic's Restaurant 127 E 3rd Street North Vancouver Annual banquet and awards night. November 6, 2001 Coquitlam Automotive 520 Como Lake Ave. Coquitlam The staff gave us an interesting tour of their engine rebuilding facility, including demonstrations of some of the equipment. Discussions centered around important aspects of engine rebuilding. October 2, 2001 Kool Coat Ceramic Coatings, Ltd. Langley The staff had a presentation on ceramic coating technololgy and discussed the advantages of coatings both in engine operation and appearance. September 4, 2001 Doug Unia's Garage Port Coquitlam Doug is highly skilled in tuning, maintaining, and rebuilding SU carburetors. He gave us a program on the history and maintenance of SUs and showed us several very informative displays. August 7, 2001 Gray Line Tours 255 1st Ave. Vancouver Everyone loves English busses and our meeting was held in a bus following a tour of the maintenance facility and discussion of various types and ages of busses. July 3, 2001 Seat Cover Centre 1290 Clark Drive Vancouver Our host, Brian Savage, gave us an informative program on auto interiors.	June 5, 2001 Penta Aviation 4380 Agar Drive Richmond This meeting, probably our largest to date, enjoyed a tour of two historic World War II aircraft, a Spitfire and a Mosquito, that had been restored. May 1, 2001 Octagon Motors Group Limited 1538 Venables Street Vancouver Colin Fitzgerald gave us a "nut and bolt" tour of one of the leading English car shops in the Vancouver area. April 3, 2001 Light Parts Collection 1415 King Albert Ave. Coquitlam We saw a fascinating collection of antique automobile lighting and an interesting private auto restoration shop. March 6, 2001 BC Society of Railroad Engineers Clubhouse Confederation Park 120 N Willingdon Ave. Burnaby This was our annual business meeting with the election of officers, etc. for the coming year. February 6, 2001 Jim Ratsoy Car Collection 12391 Gilbert Road Richmond A large collection of special interest cars, along with a private restoration shop. January 2, 2001 Special Services, Inc. #1 5438 176th Street Surrey Alistair Black presented a program on his specialty vehicle restoration business.

November 7, 2000 Tucker's Tin Farm 18944 74th Ave. Surrey An outstanding collection of cars and memorabilia housed in an impressive four bay, three story structure. October 3, 2000 Air Care Laboratory Envirotest Canada 101-4705 Wayburn Drive Burnaby A presentation on the impact of emission standards on older cars, including a demonstration using Les Hetherington's Triumph 1300 which passed the test.	September 5, 2000 Air Liquide Canada 8390 Manitoba Street Vancouver Rob St. Jean of Air Liquide Canada Welding Technical Services had a well-prepared and informative session for the hobby welder, including MIG, TIG, and plasma cutting. The meeting was held at BCIT in Burnaby. August 1, 2000 RX AutoWorks 983 1st Street West North Vancouver Rob Fram gave us a tour of RX AutoWorks, a quality car restoration business with a reputation for concours quality restorations. In the past three years RX has won several class awards at the Pebble Beach Concours. (NOTE: I joined OECC at the November meeting, after getting acquainted with club members on the Ladner to Bellingham All British Run the prior weekend. My records don't go back any further than this, but I'm sure you can see that we certainly have had interesting and varied meeting venues!)
