Piston Broke Award
This annual award is presented by
the current holder to
the member who has had the "most heralded car malfunction of the year", while engaged in
club activities. Usually there are many members who have had some sort
of mishap during the year, but the most significant breakdown is usually
chosen. ("Break down" means: a mechanical problem that requires
the hood up, the use of tools, assistance from other members, a tow
truck, and/or a gas can.)
This award was created by Tony Mantell and
presented to Fred and Marg Van Ingen for their noisy trip from Crofton
to Nanoose with their exhaust system in the boot (trunk) for their MGB
instead of connected to the manifold (header).
